16MnCrSPb5

Alloy bright case-hardening steel, according to DIN EN 10277 in drawn or peeled version.

Use for more highly stressed vehicle and machine components such as camshafts, gearing parts and bolts where higher strength combined with high toughness is required. The defined sulphur content and the lead content ensure very good machinability. Case hardening of the components, in which carbon is introduced into the edge area, makes it possible to achieve a moderately high hardness and wear-resistant surface with a tough core. The bright version ensures properties defined in the corresponding DIN standards and a scale-free surface with corresponding tolerance fields. This means that the steel can also be used without further surface treatment or processed in turning machines. It is important to note that the lead alloy does not comply with the European REACH regulation.
