Unalloyed bright quenching and tempering steel according to DIN EN 10277 in drawn or peeled version.
Often used for force-transmitting parts with moderately high stresses, such as shafts, axles or screws, where increased strength is of primary importance. The lead content ensures very good machinability. Due to its comparatively high carbon content, C45E is difficult to weld. The bright version ensures properties defined in the corresponding DIN standards and a scale-free surface with corresponding tolerance fields. This means that the steel can also be used without further surface treatment or processed in turning machines. It is important to note that the lead alloy does not comply with the European REACH regulation.
